Have redness down there?

I've had itchiness down there for almost a year, it got better and went away at times in between. Recently again I have it, and I noticed that area is sort of red and very itchy which I avoid scratching. Any idea what it could be? I dont have money for a doctor right now. I trim my pubic hair because I'm not sure cream is a good option right now. Any safe remedies? Thanks.
